Should Sean Avery play in the NHL? Part 2 April 24th 2009
After watching the New York Rangers vs Washington Capitals game 4 the other night I have to go back and say, that even IF Avery has some talent and drive to play hard, that NO he should not be playing in the NHL. It doesn't matter if he is skilled enough to play in the NHL or not, he doesn't belong there. Avery showed this twice when he took two very dumb penalties in the offensive zone with under 5 minutes remaining with the game on the line. His teammates won't even talk to him and he goes and sits at the end of the bench by himself after most shifts. How does this guy belong in a team sport? He doesn't. continued......
If Tortorella has any control over his team, Avery won't be playing when the Rangers suit up to play the Capitals on Friday night at the Verizon Center. But the rumour is that Tortorella won't make the final decision, that is up to General Manager Glen Sather. How can Sather even want him back after taking those two terrible potentially game deciding penalties? And Avery took 4 penalties the game before in the 4-0 loss to the Capitals, plus got a 10 minute misconduct. What type of team player is that? Not one that should be in the NHL. This should be his last season, if he hasn't already played his last game. Discuss this article and what you think about it in The Forums under the Hockey Articles section.
